Work Packages

    WP1 | Management and Coordination

Accomplishing all EU legal documents required to start the project, the Consortium Agreement (CA) and the Grant Agreement (GA). Monitoring project performance and progress. Ensuring coordination and communication among all partners.

WP2 | Development of highly sensitive tools for the early detection of toxins

The main objectives of this WP are to develop and optimize methodologies for the detection of marine toxins, and to apply them to natural samples. These methodologies can be further implemented in food safety assessment and environmental surveillance programs, and act as early warning tools for the occurrence of HABs and/or their negative impacts.

WP3 | Full characterization of EU-regulated toxins and new emerging toxic compounds in shellfish and other seafood species

Upon scientific and technological advances, increasing sampling and survey efforts, and/or changes in climate conditions, new toxic compounds, derivatives and analogues have been identified in shellfish and other seafood species. It is now of key importance to understand the dynamics of accumulation and elimination of the new or emerging toxins in a wide range of seafood species. Thus this WP aims to investigate the impact of climate change on the dynamics and kinetics of EU-regulated toxins in shellfish and new emerging toxins in shellfish and other seafood species

WP4 | Development of strategies to promote toxin elimination from shellfish and other seafood species

This WP aims to understand the mechanisms of toxins biotransformation in shellfish and to improve toxin elimination in these organisms through microbiome activity and detoxification mechanisms.

            WP5 | Dissemination and Communication

This WP aims to develop and apply a plan for the dissemination and exploitation of results to all potential end-users and the general public.
