BlueShellfish is a research and innovation staff exchange (SE) project funded by Horizon Europe (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – MSCA) over a 4-year period (2023-2026).
An International Consortium, constituted by members from CIIMAR (Portugal), IPMA (Portugal), LIU (Sweden), IRTA-CERCA (Spain), UNINA (Italy), CITEB (France), CEAC AENTA (Cuba), UEM (Mozambique), SCU (Australia), IGACAS (China), UFPR (Brazil), ULAGOS (Chile) and CIFGA (Spain), will join efforts to: (i) investigate risk areas for the occurrence of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) and the associated toxins in member countries, and (ii) access the effects of HABs on seafood safety, and on fish and shellfish development. Moreover, the Consortium will propose innovative approaches for early detection of HABs, as well as farming and depuration systems aiming at reducing the toxin load in contaminated shellfish.
